Moving forward till you crash
WTF is going on with Japanese Automakers? Footpedal and brake problems have been plaguing the once reliable automakers cars such as the camry and the prius. Toyota has expanded its largest recall ever to 8.1 million cars since September for problems with slipping floormats and sticking accelerator pedals that have been linked to crashes that killed at least 19 people. Honda is also having a mass recall over its airbags. Toyota announced that the sticking pedal can quickly be controlled by pressing the brake. The Brake? That's it? The car doesn't move forward out of control and there nothing you can do? All I have to do is press the brake? How does this cause 19 deaths? I'll tell you how... shi**y drivers! All of these people panicked and didn’t think to press the brake? WTF!?
Follow up:
So now Toyota faces potential litigation, class action lawsuits, and government hearings since thier cars are not idiot proof. The president of Toyota is headed for Washington to do damage control to salvage his companies image. Toyota should be able to pull thru this in the long run. Just like Ford who in the late 70's had EXPLODING gas tanks in its Pinto models and Ford remained. At least Toyotas issues can be controlled rather than Ford where people were driving on ticking time bombs. Auto recalls happen all the time for one issue or another. There may be other issues behind the overblown media coverage.
