Cowardly Boy Floyd
It's official, the superfight of our generation is off. Manny Pacquiaos promoter, Bob Arum, announced today the fight has been officially canceled. Mayweather went on the attack claiming “The truth is he (Pacquiao) just doesn’t want to take the tests." Bob Arum countered by saying that Mayweather is “a psychological coward who doesn’t want to fight anybody who has a chance of beating him.” So who's fault is this? The fighters? The promoters?
Follow up:
In the game of poker it is widely known that most frequently, the player who acts the strongest one is usually the weakest link and the person who acts the weakest link is usually the stronger one. Mayweather fits the bill in this poker showdown between the two camps, only problem is Mayweather doesn't want to ante up. All the accusations, all the pre-fight posturing has come down to the simple fact Mayweather knows that Pacquiao will not fight if blood is drawn near the date of the fight. Mayweather insistence on this issue is not only completely unnecessary but absurd. Pacquiao has agreed to blood tests 30 days before the fight and right after the fight along with unlimited urine tests in between.
So what is Mayweather afraid of? Perhaps a magical steroid that disappears a few hours after the fight? Or is Mayweather simply afraid of losing? The scientific principal of Occam's Razor tells us that all things being equal, the simplest explanation tends to be the correct one. Well it doesn’t get any more simpler than an undefeated champion boxer who has watched his future opponent obliterate his competition en route to their own showdown is, afraid of losing, afraid of no longer being the undefeated champ, and no longer being the pound for pound best fighter in boxing. So what's next for Mayweather? Mayweathers camp has announced a safer and likely opponent in Paulie Malignaggi who is a fighter that Mayweather should not be afraid of. In the superfight that never was it 's safe to say Manny Pacquiao, the undisputed pound for pound world’s best fighter has won, but the loser is the biggest disappointment of all, the fans. Thanks Pretty Cowardly Boy Floyd.
